Transition policy to ISO 37001:2025

The new version of the international standard for anti-bribery management systems, ISO 37001:2025, published in February 2025, will replace the previous version ISO 37001:2016.

According to the IAF MD 30:2025 document “Transition requirements for ISO 37001:2025” the transition period is 2 years and will end on 28.02.2027.

At the end of the transition period, there will be no valid certificate with ISO 37001:2016 as a reference, so the certificates issued during the transition period, with ISO 37001:2016 as a reference, will have a validity period until the end of the transition period at the latest, and no subsequent audit will be carried out according to ISO 37001:2016.

Starting with 28.02.2027, all audits (certification, surveillance, recertification) will have as a reference only the new ISO 37001:2025 standard

Organizations already certified by CERTINSPECT REGISTER according to ISO 37001:2016 are required to make the transition to ISO 37001:2025 by 28.02.2027.

Organizations certified by CERTINSPECT REGISTER according to ISO 37001 must take the following actions:

• to procure the ISO 37001:2025 standard;

• to develop a plan for the transition;

• to ensure the necessary new skills and awareness for all parties involved in the anti-bribery management system;

• to update the management system, as appropriate, and implement all new requirements in ISO ISO 37001:2025, in order to transition to the new reference standard;

• to carry out at least one full internal audit and a management review before the transition audit carried out by CERTINSPECT REGISTER. Their results must be recorded and any necessary changes to the management system must be made and implemented.

CERTINSPECT REGISTER recommends performing the transition audit during the surveillance or renewal audits planned in 2026.

If the transition to ISO 37001:2025 will be performed during an additional audit, the audit time will be at least 1 day to allow for a complete assessment of the new standard.Certification and recertification of clients, starting with 31.08.2026, will be performed according to ISO 37001:2025.
